Celebratory Conference for the 25th Anniversary of ENQA’s Establishment

Between 22–24 October 2025, the jubilee General Assembly of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) was held in Brussels to mark the 25th anniversary of the organisation’s establishment. The Hungarian Accreditation Committee (MAB) was represented by President János Ede Szilágyi, Honorary President Valéria Csépe, and Director General Péter Levente Lakatos.

In addition to the retrospectives and celebrations featuring ENQA’s former presidents and vice-presidents, participants also discussed current topics such as the renewal of the ESG, the application of artificial intelligence, and the involvement of external stakeholders in quality assurance processes.

The General Assembly also decided on the composition of ENQA’s leadership. Cristina Ghitulica (ARACIS, Romania) was elected as President of ENQA; Patrick Van Den Bosch (VLUHR QA, Belgium) and Kristin Vinje (NOKUT, Norway) were elected as Vice-Presidents; and Péter Levente Lakatos (MAB, Hungary) was appointed as Treasurer and Member of the Presidency.

New Board members were also elected: Professor Marilena Maniaci (member of the Governing Board of ANVUR, Italy, and of MAB’s Strategic Planning Committee) and Professor Federico Morán (Director of Madri+d, Spain). Congratulations to the newly elected leadership and Board members! We wish them every success in their work and in the upcoming mandate!

On the occasion of the Brussels conference, the MAB President signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Director of the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement (NCEQE) of Georgia. The parties reaffirmed and renewed their earlier successful collaboration, primarily in the area of expert exchange.

MAB remains committed to close cooperation with the international organizational system of higher education quality assurance, thereby supporting the full implementation of the commitments set out in the Bologna Ministerial Declarations and further strengthening the international competitiveness of the Hungarian higher education sector.
