On 23 September 2025, the Secretariat of the Hungarian Accreditation Commitee (MAB) hosted a delegation from the Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency (NAKVIS) in Budapest in the framework of the CEENQA (Central and Eastern European Network of Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education) staff exchange program.
The professional meeting aimed to facilitate the exchange of experiences, introduce the higher education quality assurance systems of both countries, and explore opportunities for future cooperation.
The program began with a welcome speech by Prof. Dr. János Ede Szilágyi, President of MAB, who greeted the participants, followed by dr. Péter Levente Lakatos, Director General of MAB, who provided an overview of MAB’s activities. Dr. Franci Demšar, Director of NAKVIS introduced the Slovenian higher education quality assurance system and highlighted the agency’s role within it.
The key event of the visit was the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two agencies, which consolidated the commitment of both agencies to reinforce their professional ties and foster long-term collaboration.
Following the plenary session, the colleagues of both Secretariats engaged into professional discussions divided into four thematic working groups; accreditation and evaluation procedures, international and project activities and communication and PR, IT team and Analytics activities, Legal and HR department financial department. These sessions provided an excellent platform for the exchange of good practices and to recognize the potential areas for joint development. The event concluded with a wrap-up plenary session, brief reports from each group, closing remarks by the Directors of the agencies, and a lunch.
A leading role in the successful organization of the visit was assumed by the dedicated efforts of Ms. Judit Tarsoly, International coordinator at MAB, and Ms. Nataša Kramar, Deputy Head of Department for Quality Assurance and International Cooperation at NAKVIS. MAB extends its sincere appreciation for their outstanding contribution.
