In the August 3rd, 1993 issue of the Hungarian Gazette, the Act LXXX of 1993 on Higher Education was published, which established the Hungarian Accreditation Committee (MAB) as the sole Hungarian higher education quality assurance and accreditation organization. MAB’s predecessor was the National Accreditation Committee (OAB), which officially began its operation on January 1, 1994.
