Universities in the DEQAR system

MAB launched its online webinar series in 2020, which is open to national and international partner organisations, experts and national higher education institutions. Due to the success of the English-language webinars, the series will continue in 2022.

On 16 February 2022, the guest speaker of the third webinar was Colin Tück, Director of the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR). The topics of the online event were the DEQAR database (Database of External Quality Assurance Results), the possibilities of using DEQAR data, especially in the field of credit recognition, and the interoperability of the database with other systems. In his presentation, Colin Tück highlighted several topics including the growth of higher education providers and their possibilities to be present in DEQAR, the role of international cooperation regarding the issuance of digital- and micro-credentials, and the recognition of higher education degrees. Furthermore, participants of the webinar also discussed the European framework for external quality assurance of institutions in the context of the European Universities Initiative, the availability of accreditation reports in English in DEQAR, and the relationship between EQAR and EU institutions.

MAB obtained its EQAR registration in 2019 for a 5-year period, until 30 September 2023. Also since 2019, upon the invitation of ENQA, MAB has been participating in an EU tender to learn about DEQAR, to upload data related to accreditation assessments and to support the implementation of ongoing reforms in the European Higher Education Area. As a result of the DEQAR CONNECT project, the MAB accreditation reports, once adopted, will be uploaded to DEQAR and made publicly available.
